Description
An understated form shaped from extraordinary wood.
Still is turned from a single piece of maple burl and shaped into a low, straight-sided bowl. Its simple cylindrical form allows the character of the wood to remain the focus.
Burl eyes, shifting grain, natural inclusions and small voids appear throughout the piece. Rather than removing or disguising these features, they have been preserved as part of the material’s story.
The near-vertical walls give Still a more architectural presence than a traditional rounded bowl. It can be used as a small serving bowl or displayed on its own as a sculptural object.
