Description
The clear horizon gives this painting a strong sense of place, allowing it to register as a landscape before it begins to unfold. Above the horizon, the sky and distant elements ground the work in something familiar and lived in, while below, layers of marks, papers, and textures speak to the history held within the land itself. Together, they reflect places that have been lived in for generations. The farms and fields are often where objects accumulate over time, from machinery and fencing to discarded fragments, each carrying a story. It’s about the relationship between what we see at a glance and what reveals itself more slowly, where surface and history exist side by side, shaping how a place is remembered.
