Forrest abstracts the runway of one of Australia’s most remote airstrips, it
captures the aerial geometry of a T-intersection runway etched into an otherwise
untouched landscape.
Part of an ongoing Runway Series, this piece distills human navigation
infrastructure to its barest logic: a mark made in the earth so that something can
land. The raw canvas border acts as both frame and terrain — the desert ground
asserting itself around the built form. The tension between the saturated red field
and the cool blue of the runway reads as both signal and stillness, urgency and
isolation.
Forrest is a place most will never visit. This painting makes you feel like you
already have.
