about the artist
Alison Philpotts specializes in creating large scale landscape paintings using acrylic paint. Her main sources of inspiration come from the stunning prairie and mountain scenery of southern Alberta and British Columbia. Working with paint feels like a natural mode of expression for Alison, and she credits her father for introducing her to acrylic painting techniques, including colour mixing, compostion and flow.
Alison's ultimate aim is to transport the viewer into the natural world through the canvas. For her, a painting truly succeeds when it capture the majesty and tranquility of nature and enables the viewer to connect with their own memories of similar places. Alison now has works in collections throughout Canada and the United States.
